Water Witches do not differentiate between different types of magic, we see it as part of the whole of life. We see conjuring, spiritual magic, science, psychology and others as equal, and desirable skills.
We see much of what is achieved by various forms of medicine from GP and witchdoctors to mainstream consultants and alternative practitioners, as what many refer to as the placebo effect, but perhaps part of mans own healing abilities. We know that many of our cures use these abilities and skills associated with using them.
We see people entering trance states in rituals, under hypnosis and in all branches of religion where people are actively participating rather than spectators, and that all types of magic help people to participate at an earlier stage. We therefore use many types of magic within our rituals, and conjuring skills are thought highly of.
Many of our high priests and priestesses practice a number of forms of magic, both in rituals and as entertainment in the parties or celebrations that follow most of the covens meetings. Witches within the covens are not being fooled, or tricked, as we know there are many types of magic, some which we understand and some which we are able to say we do not. As different members within a coven specialize in different skills, we all have areas of knowledge that to others may seem to be or be magic.
In Britain most people think of magicians as performers, entertainers or tricksters. However their skills within a coven can be used to enliven, bring a coven to life, improve everyone's enjoyment, and stimulate others to look at the world from different perspectives.
Of course no one is suggesting that if the rest or our beliefs are alien to you, or you have been terrorized since birth about witchcraft and unable to take an open informed view, then this is not a path for you, or not at this time. However we invite you to consider the information available on this site, and if this is the point in your life where you could/should become involved.
So why a special page for magicians, and not others who perhaps have equal skills of value to us. It is because many people who have an interest in magic, conjuring, enjoy performing, have an open enquiring mind, make ideal high priests or priestesses, and often enjoy establishing and running a new coven. Some however just enjoy the comradeship of the coven and are happier to sit back and participate without leading.
You will appreciate that many find rituals and strange happenings a bit scary or strange, while the magician, revels in this, and usually is delighted when he discovers that he has passed from the area of conjuring into forms of magic that have no explanation, when he or she and others witness things that science says is not possible, when you gain control over local weather, start to use healing skills, and can call forth solid three dimensional images of creatures, or give other abilities within the circle that are not possible outside.
You will discover that we have no commercial interests, no paid officials, no intermediaries but introduce each and every one to the power, which we say is the one and only, we do not recognize any devil, or the myriad of other strange things within Christianity, however have an open view of this invasive belief system, and seek to convert no one from it. Some Water Witches are also Christians, but perhaps with slightly modified beliefs.
